Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT)

NIPT is an advanced NGS-based screening test that analyzes cell-free fetal DNA from maternal blood, safely assessing the risk of common fetal chromosomal abnormalities, including Trisomy 21, 18, and 13.

How NIPT Works

Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) is an advanced screening test that uses Next-Generation Sequencing technology to analyze cell-free fetal DNA circulating in the mother's blood. Since it requires only a standard maternal blood draw, there's no risk to the pregnancy, unlike more invasive procedures such as amniocentesis. This test is used to assess the risk of common fetal chromosomal abnormalities, including Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome), Trisomy 18 (Edwards Syndrome), and Trisomy 13 (Patau Syndrome).

Depending on the panel selected, screening for sex chromosome aneuploidies may also be offered. NIPT is valued for its high sensitivity and specificity, giving expecting parents and healthcare providers reliable, early insight to support informed decisions during pregnancy.

Clinical Application

Down Syndrome Screening

Using maternal blood and cell-free fetal DNA analysis, NIPT helps assess the risk of Trisomy 21 during pregnancy.

Clinical Application

Edwards Syndrome Screening

NIPT uses cell-free fetal DNA from maternal blood to screen for the risk of Trisomy 18 early in pregnancy.

Clinical Application

Patau Syndrome Screening

Through NGS-based analysis of maternal blood, NIPT helps identify the risk of Trisomy 13 during pregnancy.

Clinical Application

Sex Chromosome Analysis

Where offered, NIPT analyses cell-free fetal DNA from maternal blood to assess the risk of sex chromosome aneuploidies.

Clinical Benefits

Trusted Testing for Healthier Pregnancies

Mother-Fetus Safety

NIPT requires only a maternal blood draw, posing no risk to the fetus, unlike invasive procedures such as amniocentesis, making it a safer screening choice.

Early Pregnancy Screening

NIPT can be performed early in pregnancy, giving expecting parents timely insight into fetal chromosomal health and more time to plan next steps.

High Test Accuracy

With high sensitivity and specificity, NIPT delivers dependable, clinically validated results, reducing false positives and giving families greater confidence in their screening outcome.

Advanced NGS Platform

Built on Ion Torrent next-generation sequencing, NIPT analyzes cell-free fetal DNA with precision, ensuring results are backed by proven, high-throughput genomic technology.

Broad Condition Coverage

NIPT screens for Trisomy 21, 18, and 13, along with sex chromosome aneuploidies where offered, covering the most common fetal chromosomal conditions in one test.
